To use any of the example scores offered on this page, you will first need to install the free Norfolk Harp Std font. It is distributed as part of the Norfolk font set. You can read about Norfolk Harp Std in the Scoring Notes blog, and here is a link for downloading and installing the Norfolk fonts from NYC Music Services. This is discussed in more detail in Notating Music for Harp In Sibelius in the section Fonts and Other Support Files.

To use these resources, you do not need the full set of Norfolk fonts (though I recommend you that you install them because there are a very nice addition to the set of fonts that work with Sibelius). You can install Norfolk Harp Std by itself, and download a copy of the font here:

It comes in a zip file, and you should unzip the file, and install it by the usual methods appropriate for your operating system. It is made available under the SIL Open Font License, which means that the fonts are free to download, use, embed, redistribute with other software (including commercial software) or to create derivative versions.

MuseScore is free without any limitations whatsoever, making it stand out in a field of mostly paywalled software. It has advanced notation features comparable to those of the most expensive paid software, as well as input via MIDI, keyboard, and on-screen piano keyboard. While the MuseScore default instruments are equally as bad as some other options, you can download new sounds.

Hi Chuck. Noticed your changes to my recent post of Palestrina's "Alma Redemptoris". I fixed the PDF file link, which was a cut-n-paste error. I also reverted the change to the "Scorch" designation. When I do a CPDL post I give full access to the Sibelius source file, (you can download it with a right-click on "Sibelius 4"). If you double-left click on it, and you have Sibelius's "Scorch" utility installed, it will come up in Scorch, but you can't print it or save it from there. Some editors may want this restriction, and labeling their scores with (Scorch) would indicate this limitation. Hence I prefer the "Sibelius 4" designation I've been using, indicating free access to the source file, with no limitations.Johnhenryfowler 19:22, 6 October 2008 (UTC) 2ff7e9595c
